In If He Had Been With Me, Chapter 30, Finny and Autumn spend time together, confess their feelings, and have unprotected sex after their initial separation. Autumn also writes a book about their story in this chapter, which she tells Finny about. However, Finny dies tragically in a car accident while on his way to break up with Sylvie. This sets up a horrifying twist in which Finny is electrocuted by a wire after the accident.
